The
Early Years
In the
early winter of 1976 Retina Foundation
was established at Relief Road Ahmedabad
by Dr. P. N.
Nagpal, Professor and past Head of
the Retina Unit at M & J Institute of
Ophthalmology, B.J. Medical College,
Ahmedabad along with
Late
Dr. J.H. Patel,
Honorary Professor of Ophthalmology and
Consulting Eye Surgeon.
In the last months of 1979 Retina
Foundation was shifted to its present
premises in Shahibaug, Ahmedabad and Aso
Palav Eye Hospital was also established
to offer efficient and cost effective
comprehensive eye care facilities.

Over the past 33 years, the services
provided at the Foundation have evolved
to keep pace with the rapid developments
in ophthalmology in general and in the
specialty of Retina and Vitreous in
particular.
The
Last
Decade
We
have been working very hard to improve
and offer complete eye care solutions
for both routine treatments like
cataract ,
LASIK and also complicated
conditions like retinal detachments ,
diabetes etc.
In
2003 Speciality
Cornea and Ocular Trauma
Services were initiated followed by
establishment of the
AsoPalov Eye Bank.
In
2004
, we rnovated the premises and turned it
over into a super modern hospital with
Class 10000 HEPA Operation Theatres and
added another floor for the convenience
of our indoor patients.
Since
2005
we have dedicated
Glaucoma and Squint
Clinic run by Dr Kamal Nagpal.
In
2007,
we got the
PASCAL retinal laser, the first in
India for the painfree and comforable
treatment of patients with
diabetic retinopathy and retinal
diseases.
In
2008,
Retina Foundation opened its
premier
state of the art Laser centre and City
Clinic , WaveLase Eye Centre
in the
heart of the city for the
convenience of the residents of
rapidly expanding city of Ahmedabad and
also for the convenience of our
International
patients to offer the state of the art
in a modern environment.
Mission
The
Retina Foundation and Aso Palov Eye
Hospital are
committed
to the health and well being of eyes.
Research
and Training
in ophthalmology are the other missions
of this Foundation.
