Continued Medical Education (CME) in Ophthalmology

These meetings/ workshops are the heart of Retina Foundation & Eye Research Center.

The purpose of these workshops is to create a platform where a particular topic is discussed with the invited experts from India or abroad along with a live demonstration of surgical or diagnostic techniques for both the subspecialist as well as general ophthalmologist.

They foster intensive discussions of the chosen topic and promote an interchange of information and ideas among professionals - the essence of how medicine is practiced.

The Eye Research Centre Ahmedabad takes great pleasure in announcing the following programme of Continued Ophthalmic Education for 2007- 2008.

ADVANCED VITREO RETINAL TECHNIQUES AND TECHNOLOGY (AVRTT)

Dates: 22nd and 23rd Dec, 2007

Course description

This two day Vitreo Retinal symposium is intended to provide the vitreo retinal specialist with an update on management of vitreo retinal diseases. Emphasis will be placed on conditions where there have been recent new developments. Didactic lectures and video presentations will be given along with live surgical demonstrations showcasing new developments and a wet lab facility. There would be discussion periods for the members of the audience to ask questions. The course is aimed at Vitreo retinal specialists and training fellows to get a update on the trends and technologies and would also help the training residents and general ophthalmologists to get a preview of the way diagnostics and treatment options are progressing in the vitreo retinal speciality
Course objectives
1. Evaluate the latest techniques in vitreo retinal surgery

2. To manage complex retinal detachments and PVR cases

3. Compare the current treatment options and controversies in the management of     ARMD and Diabetic Retinopathy using laser, anti VEGF therapy and surgery

4. Identify the latest innovations in surgical techniques and instrumentation

5. Discuss new advances in ocular imaging techniques
