Museum Of
Ophthalmology
Ophthalmology has played an
important role in the history of
medicine.
The Foundation’s
Museum of Ophthalmology
preserves this history and
translates it into an
educational resource for use by
fellow ophthalmologists, medical
historians, researchers and the
public as they seek to
understand ophthalmology’s
contributions to society and
address similar challenges today
and in the future.
This “ Museum of Ophthalmology”
at Retina Foundation is the
first and probably the only one
in India.
It educates people about the
eye, vision and the history of
eye care. Established in 1989,
the Museum of Ophthalmology is
dedicated to the pioneers of
Ophthalmology, in India and
abroad.
The museum houses a collection
dating back to the early 18th
Century and is open to the
medical fraternity at all times
and to the general public by
appointment.
We could also arrange a guided
visit to the Museum by one of
our doctors, if you could fix a
prior appointment.
